Top in his class Mild, docile and patient, large and sweet eyes: this is donkey. Unfortunately, over the centuries, he has been considered, the last in his class, as for his intelligence. Then came Collodi to seal this conviction. By his Pinocchio, he made donkey a stubborn, stupid animal. But it is wrong. We have to consider how useful this animal has been and still keeps on being for man. That is why we should promote him as top in his class. Or rather, I could say that men have so much to learn from his docility: perhaps one day we all would be better. MC |
